The clients wanted their semi detached double fronted Victorian home in North Fitzroy renovated. They have a strong commitment to sustainable living, and wanted a building that totally encompassed the latest in sustainable technology with contemporary design. The rearrangement of functional areas had to be considered as well as the local planning and heritage codes. This project delivers best ecological practice, occupant health, energy and water efficiency and encourages other people to adopt this approach. This renovation inspires a new paradigm for suburban living where the past, present and future merge. It does this through a sustainable design which respects the heritage nature of a Victorian streetscape, expands it into a contemporary rear space, and creates a cost effective, highly efficient and appealing home.
