This development of a large single storey family home which doubles for the client’s business requirements, is a very liveable family home. It is an interesting U-shape design which has rectified inherent problems associated with this shape, such as long passageways, confined courtyards and dead corner pockets. The project won the Most Effective Use of Brick award. It utilises brick cladding as its main building material, with a single red-grey brick product used throughout the development providing a consistency of appearance to the house. Structural brick columns intersect with the pitched roof element that frames the pool area with this theme repeated for the rear fencing. The design also utilises up and down lighting to provide a soft wash of light over the brick surface creating visual interest at night.
