The name given by the designer to this project is apt, there is nothing loud or showy in this project. Unashamedly contemporary in form, the simplicity of form and materials allow this house to sit placidly within its rural setting.

An elongated box has, in the words of the designer, been cranked to embrace views down to and across a rural dam into the tranquil landscape beyond. The angled form is anchored to the site with a solid base, while reference is made to the rural setting through the extensive use of timber cladding and decking which is intended to weather naturally. The absence of any apparent roof form allows the house to sit low on the site although partially elevated in response to the slope toward the dam. Clever placement of windows articulates the simple form and optimises views of the tranquil surrounds. A broad eaves line follows the configuration of the full length timber deck, while a well-integrated pool enhances the relationship of the house to the dam.

While obviously luxuriously appointed, this house is refined in all aspects. A limited palette of interior finishes echoes the simplicity of the exterior colours are neutral, and traffic areas are defined by warm timber flooring which offsets areas of light coloured tile and carpet. Accents are provided throughout by sleek, dark coloured, high gloss cabinets and strategically place timber linings. Overall, this house exhibits elegance and restraint, ensuring it a place ahead of some very strong competition in this category.
