Gigil Café

Commendation Excellence in Use of Timber

Designer: Sync Design
Builder: Leeda Projects
Photographer: Jack Lovel Photography
Location: Clayton, VIC

The circular forms within the floor, ceiling and feature-timber designs zone the areas within the café and bring a sense of functional design. The hard materials and finishes have been softened with the use of thoughtfully-lit timber detailing throughout. Environmentally-sourced Tasmanian Oak has been used to create texture and warmth. Its durable and flexible characteristics make it an ideal material for creating curved elements, veneer, perforated panels, beaded battens that feature so strongly in this well-executed commercial fitout, contributing to the positive impact the Gigil Café brings to the Monash Children’s Hospital.
