The impact of a minimal alteration of an existing house earns this project a special commendation. A small addition has injected new life into a simple house in Echuca, providing much improved amenity and connection with its bushland context.
A previously dark and enclosed area of the existing brick house has been converted into a light-filled living area in a vernacular style which reflects the timber milling history of the town.
The design has been handled with originality and humour, with quirky yet stylish interior treatments, making specific references to the owners’ family history.
