Becoming Accredited
To become an accredited Home Sustainability Assessor through the BDAV, you need to:
- be a BDAV Member*, and as a result, comply with the BDAV Code of Professional Conduct;
- be an Individual (corporate entities must nominate a person who will be the applicant. However, corporate entities who have more than person within their firm who conduct assessments must apply for accreditation for each such person);
- hold the appropriate qualification: ie, must have completed the 21854VIC Course in Home Sustainability Assessment through a Registered Training Organisation. A Statement of Attainment for the course must be supplied with your application for accreditation;
- undergo a Police Check which the assessor must organise themselves. A copy of the resultant Police Certificate must be submitted with the application for accreditation;
- hold Professional Indemnity Insurance and Public Liability Insurance at the time of applying for accreditation;
- abide by the Code: ie, must have read and agree to abide by the Code of Conduct for accredited Home Sustainability Assessors;
- pay the accreditation fee of $200, to enable the application to be processed. [NOTE: this fee does not include the BDAV membership fee, which is an additional fee.]
