Design Manager Required

SAC Building Workshop, based on St Kilda Road, Melbourne, seeks a mature-minded, experienced Design Manager with manual design drawing schematic skills and AutoCAD proficiency. Candidates must be motivated and able to work autonomously, as well as part of a team. Mature graduate building designer passionate about building design seeks mentorship or another building designer to help with her own projects. Looking for someone for barter or pay by the hour or someone who just loves to help. Experience with ArchiCad (preferred) and AutoCad, but am able to adapt to any package and work from home. Designer / Technical Draftsperson

Harry the Hirer is looking for a Designer/Technical Draftsperson to join our inner Melbourne team. Harry the Hirer have over 30 years experience in the exhibition and events industry. Our portfolio of events includes Australian Open Tennis, AFL Grand Final, Melbourne Cup Carnival, and Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.  The successful applicant will be joining a team responsible for the design and planning of Australia’s largest major events, corporate functions and brand activations. In your role, you will take ownership of the design process from post-conceptual stage through to completion. As someone with design experience in the industry, or with relevant design qualifications, you will be able to apply your creative and technical abilities to successfully complete your duties.

Requirements
Undertake creation of 3D CAD designs and 2D detail drawings suitable for client approval and workshop fabrication.
A good understanding of construction methodology, joinery, documentation, specifications and drawings.
Structural engineering knowledge and interpreting engineering notes and sketches.
Understanding of Building Codes, DDA, Australian Standards and Building Permits.
Problem-solving technical and design issues. 
Must have advanced knowledge of design software packages including REVIT – AutoCAD knowledge is a bonus.
Maintain a high proficiency in CAD skills, drafting techniques and continue to develop knowledge of structural detailing. 
Effective and efficient time-management to meet deadlines.
Must be creatively minded and have strong attention to detail.
Be capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Motivated, enthusiastic and have a positive attitude.
Must be passionate about design. 
Knowledge of 3ds Max and Adobe CS would be advantageous.
Design experience in the events/exhibition industry, or have qualifications and experience in Industrial Design would be advantageous.
The role also requires the individual to work on system-based exhibition work.
