The Convertible House

The ‘Convertible House’ has successfully attempted to be a design that is innovative, creative in its design approach while ensuring it meets the environmentally sustainable requirements of the brief and site.

The ‘Convertible House’ design brief combined alternative environmentally sustainable aspects, providing the occupants with a residence that has found success. The implementation of low embodied energy design and construction decisions and processes provide a holistic approach to the design from concept to completion.

The provision of a photovoltaic system for power is another enhancement to the design.

While the the operable awnings provide shade during the warmer climactic periods, because they are insulated and lined, they also provide thermal warmth during the colder periods.

The built form of the ‘Convertible House’ provides the viewer with an exciting option for rural settings. While being successful in its environmental design capacities, it is also highly suiccessful in its originality.

This project also won Best Energy Efficient Design-Residential, Most Innovative Use of Steel, and Most Innovative Use of Water Efficiency.
