Woodland Heath Residence

Getting real bang for buck is the ultimate aim of any land-owner when embarking on a journey to create their dream home. Lower end budgets do not need to translate to low-end homes. This year’s winner of Best New House up to $300K exemplifies the creative thinking that can result in grand outcomes on limited resources.

This Inverloch residence pushes the boundaries of achieving a functional contemporary family space on a budget. The design responds to the surrounding beach-side landscape context via restrained contemporary forms and a muted palette. The three part segmented design separates the master bedroom, common living spaces and kids bedroom/rumpus areas into isolated zones. Each zone is provided with external decks and direct access to external open space areas.

Large sliding glass doors ensure internal and external spaces blend. Light is flooded throughout internal areas, filtered by the nearby canopy trees. External spaces utilise nature natural timbers and ground cover to reflect the surrounding environment.

The overall final package results in a quality of finish and amenity well in excess of the budget.
