Kensington Warehouse Renovation

The clients, a professional couple, wanted a functional, contemporary and relaxed living space in an existing inner-suburban warehouse. The building had previously been sub-divided into a number of separate, open, warehouse shells. A covenant on the title restricted any changes being made to the exterior of the building. Three levels of living, plus a rooftop garden to take in city views, were requested along with the challenge to achieve maximum natural light to all levels of the building. This was no mean feat, as the warehouse was sandwiched between other shells and could only attract light from existing windows to the street frontage, or by creating a light-well in the roof. The designer has successfully resolved the many issues presented by this unique and challenging site. Light and space permeate the project, providing a contemporary and functional living environment. Careful space planning and close consideration of the clients’ brief has achieved a result way beyond the owners’ expectation. They simply love living in this warehouse!
